The Green Pencil Foundation, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, organised a one-day Sensitisation Programme on Intergenerational Bonding at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Village Chhainsa, Ballabgarh, Faridabad.

The interactive session brought together 70 students, who participated enthusiastically in discussions and activities focused on empathy, communication, and mutual respect between generations. The programme encouraged students to understand the importance of family values, intergenerational dialogue, and emotional connections that form the foundation of a strong and compassionate society.

The event was facilitated by members of the Green Pencil Foundation, who led engaging conversations and group reflections that helped students recognise the importance of learning from the experiences of elders while embracing their own responsibilities as youth.

Ms. Ravinder, Principal of the school, praised the initiative and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Green Pencil Foundation and NISD. She remarked that such sessions are essential in today’s times to reconnect students with traditional values and strengthen emotional ties within families and communities.

This sensitisation drive is a part of a 15-programme series jointly organised by the Green Pencil Foundation and NISD across 10 government schools in the districts of Faridabad, Gurugram, Jind, and Karnal. The collaboration aims to promote intergenerational solidarity, encourage mutual understanding between youth and elders, and foster a culture of care and inclusion in society.

Speaking about the session, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of the Green Pencil Foundation, said, “When young minds learn to value the wisdom of elders, they become more empathetic and socially responsible citizens. These programmes are not only about awareness—they are about rebuilding the emotional fabric of our communities.”

Through this ongoing initiative with NISD, the Green Pencil Foundation continues to strengthen its mission of social awareness, youth empowerment, and community-based development, inspiring students to build bridges of understanding across generations for a more inclusive and caring future.
