Join Hands with Uttar Pradesh Police to Curb Plastic Pollution

Awareness Drive Held to Promote Sustainable Alternatives Among Marginalized Communities

In a collaborative effort to tackle the growing menace of plastic and polythene pollution, the Green Pencil Foundation, in association with the Uttar Pradesh Police, conducted an impactful awareness drive aimed at encouraging eco-friendly alternatives and sustainable lifestyle practices.

As part of the initiative, 200 cloth bags and metal water bottles were distributed to people from marginalized communities. The goal was to reduce dependency on single-use plastic bottles and polythene, promoting long-term behavioral change in daily consumption habits.

The event was spearheaded by Mr. Sundaram Tiwari, who was recently honored with the Uttar Pradesh State Award, presented by the Honourable Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath for his exemplary work in social and environmental welfare. His leadership continues to inspire collective action for a cleaner and greener future.

The drive also witnessed the presence of DSP Vinay Prabhat Sahni and other officers from the Uttar Pradesh Police, reflecting the growing synergy between law enforcement agencies and civil society organizations in addressing environmental challenges.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tiwari emphasized, “It’s crucial to bring sustainability into the daily lives of people, especially in underserved communities. Small changes, like replacing plastic with cloth bags and metal bottles, can lead to a significant positive impact.”

The initiative is part of the Green Pencil Foundation’s larger mission to integrate sustainability into the lives of citizens through climate action, education, awareness, and advocacy. The Foundation continues to work in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to foster a more inclusive and environmentally conscious society.

This successful collaboration stands as a model for future partnerships between government bodies and grassroots organizations to drive meaningful environmental change on the ground.
