Dwarka, New Delhi | August 2, 2025 — On the occasion of International Lungs Day, the Green Pencil Foundation, in collaboration with Sneh Charitable Trust, delivered an impactful webinar on the theme “Climate Change and Its Impact on Human Health” at the Max Hospital Auditorium, Dwarka. The event was supported by Max Hospital, drawing attention to one of the most pressing challenges of our time — the intersection of environmental degradation and public health.

The session was led by Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of the Green Pencil Foundation and a renowned social and climate activist. Addressing a gathering of over 100 participants, including residents, health professionals, students, and environmental enthusiasts from across Delhi, Mr. Khanda delivered an eye-opening talk on the adverse effects of air pollution and rising global temperatures on respiratory and cardiovascular health.
Highlighting data from WHO and India’s Central Pollution Control Board, he emphasized that air pollution is one of the leading causes of premature deaths in India, with particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) far exceeding safe levels in most urban areas. “We’re not just breathing polluted air — we are inhaling slow poison every day. The link between deteriorating air quality and rising cases of asthma, lung cancer, and COPD cannot be ignored,” he remarked.

Mr. Khanda urged immediate behavioral, institutional, and policy-level interventions to mitigate air pollution and adapt to the ongoing climate crisis. He also shared the Green Pencil Foundation’s ongoing campaigns across India that aim to create awareness and build climate-resilient communities through education, advocacy, and grassroots action.
Dr. Seema Rao, a senior pulmonologist from Max Hospital, joined the session to provide a medical perspective on how climate change is increasing the burden on India’s already strained healthcare system. Representatives from Sneh Charitable Trust echoed the importance of inter-sectoral collaboration in addressing health and climate challenges, especially among vulnerable populations.

The event concluded with an open Q&A session where participants discussed preventive health measures, green lifestyle choices, and the role of local communities in combating climate-induced health issues.
This webinar marks another step forward in the Green Pencil Foundation’s mission to integrate climate education with public health awareness, advocating for sustainable change and a healthier future for all.
