Green Pencil Foundation Founder Mr. Sandy Khanda Raises Awareness on Climate Change at All India Radio, Dehradun

In a powerful effort to highlight the urgent challenges posed by climate change, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of the Green Pencil Foundation, along with Co-founder Mr. Gaurav Mishra and National Operations Head Mr. Aakash Mahato, appeared on All India Radio Dehradun to share insights on sustainability, health, and climate resilience.

The session focused on the rising frequency of extreme weather events such as cloudbursts, landslides, and floods in Uttarakhand, which serve as stark reminders of the ongoing climate crisis. Mr. Khanda emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing environmental degradation and building climate-resilient communities.

“Climate change is no longer a distant threat—it is a present reality impacting millions of lives. From rising temperatures to floods in our Himalayan states, nature is giving us repeated warnings. The time to act is now, and action must begin at both individual and collective levels,” said Mr. Khanda.

The discussion also highlighted the direct link between sustainability and human health. Pollution, unsustainable practices, and deforestation not only harm the environment but also increase the risk of respiratory diseases, water contamination, and mental health challenges.

Mr. Gaurav Mishra, Co-founder of the Foundation, stressed the importance of community-driven solutions:

“Real change comes when people take ownership. Every citizen has a role—whether by adopting eco-friendly practices at home, reducing waste, or participating in climate action movements. Small steps at the local level create a big impact nationally.”

Adding to the conversation, National Operations Head Mr. Aakash Mahato spoke about the role of youth and innovation in tackling the climate emergency:

“Young people are the torchbearers of sustainability. Through education, awareness, and innovation, they can bring transformative change. Our Foundation aims to empower youth voices to lead this green revolution.”

The Green Pencil Foundation has been actively working across India on issues of women’s health, climate change, and sustainability. From school workshops on sustainable practices to large-scale clean-up drives and awareness campaigns, the organization continues to mobilize citizens for a greener future.

The radio appearance served as another milestone in the Foundation’s mission to engage with diverse audiences and spread awareness through credible platforms. By reaching out via All India Radio, the team ensured their message resonated with thousands of listeners across Uttarakhand, a region deeply vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

As Mr. Khanda concluded:

“We cannot afford to be passive observers anymore. Protecting our planet is protecting our future. Let us rise together—because climate action is not a choice, it is a necessity.”
