This programme is part of the long-term collaboration between Green Pencil Foundation and NISD to conduct 15 Intergenerational Bonding sessions across Faridabad, Gurugram, Jind, and Karnal, aiming to strengthen understanding and harmony between younger and older generations.
More than 100 students from the school participated in the engaging and interactive sessions, which included storytelling, dialogue-based learning, and reflection activities focused on values of empathy, gratitude, and respect for elders. The session encouraged students to cherish intergenerational relationships as vital to personal growth and community strength.
The activity was facilitated by the Green Pencil Foundation team, including Mr. Aakash Mahato, Ms. Neha, and Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder and Director of the Foundation. Through their guidance, students explored how communication and shared experiences between generations help build resilient and compassionate families and societies.
Principal Ms. Poonam expressed her appreciation for the initiative, praising the Foundation and NISD for bringing such meaningful programmes to schools.
She highlighted that this kind of experiential learning helps students understand the importance of respect, emotional intelligence, and family bonding in a fast-paced modern world.
Reflecting on the event, Mr. Sandy Khanda shared:
“Intergenerational understanding is a bridge that connects the wisdom of the past with the vision of the future. When young people listen to and learn from elders, they carry forward values that make society stronger, kinder, and more united.”
Through such programmes, the Green Pencil Foundation continues to advance its mission of building an inclusive and empathetic society, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
