The Green Pencil Foundation, in collaboration with Commutiny – The Youth Collective, successfully organized a Campus Climate Vartaleap at Government Senior Secondary School, Islampur, Gurugram. The session brought together over 120 enthusiastic students to engage in meaningful dialogue and reflection on climate change, sustainability, and the power of youth-led environmental action.

The event was graced by the school’s Principal, Mr. Lakhpat Singh, who extended his support and appreciation for the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to build climate consciousness among young citizens. He emphasized the importance of instilling environmental values early, highlighting how students can act as changemakers in their families and communities.

Leading the interactive Vartaleap, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder and Director of Green Pencil Foundation, inspired students to think critically about the climate crisis and take small but consistent steps toward sustainability. He underscored how collective action — from reducing single-use plastic to adopting tree plantation drives and clean-up initiatives — can help create a significant impact in addressing the challenges of pollution and global warming.

Team members Aakash Mahato, Divyansh Gandhi, and Neha from Green Pencil Foundation facilitated group activities, encouraging students to express their views on environmental challenges faced in urban and rural areas of Gurugram. The open discussion allowed students to share innovative ideas for promoting cleaner surroundings and eco-friendly lifestyles in their school and neighborhood.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khanda shared,

“Youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow—they are the changemakers of today. Through Campus Climate Vartaleap, we are nurturing a generation that understands its environmental responsibility and acts consciously for a greener, sustainable India.”

The program concluded with a collective pledge by students to practice eco-friendly habits and spread awareness among peers and families, reaffirming Green Pencil Foundation’s vision of building a climate-conscious generation capable of leading India’s sustainability movement from the grassroots.
