The Green Pencil Foundation, supported by Commutiny – The Youth Collective, organized a Campus Climate Vartaleap at Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Badshahpur, Gurugram. The engaging session brought together around 100 students to explore how their intentions toward climate action can translate into meaningful, real-world impact.

The event was graced by Ms. Poonam, Principal of the school, who appreciated the Foundation’s efforts to engage students in reflective conversations about environmental responsibility. She highlighted the importance of empowering youth to understand sustainability not just as a concept but as a way of life.

Leading the session, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder and Director of Green Pencil Foundation, encouraged students to adopt climate-positive habits in their daily lives — from reducing waste and saving water to supporting tree plantation and clean-air initiatives. He emphasized that every small step counts when it comes to building a resilient and sustainable future.

The Vartaleap, a youth dialogue platform developed by Commutiny, enabled participants to reflect on their roles as individuals and as part of a larger ecosystem. Through interactive discussions and group reflections, students shared their own experiences and challenges in combating pollution, waste, and environmental neglect in their communities.

Team members from Green Pencil Foundation, including Aakash Mahato, Divyansh Gandhi, and Neha, facilitated the activities and motivated students to think beyond awareness — to action. The session aimed to nurture critical thinking, empathy, and leadership among students, aligning with the theme of “Moving from Intention to Action.”

Speaking about the program, Mr. Khanda remarked:

“True change begins when awareness turns into action. Through Campus Climate Vartaleap, we are shaping young minds to not just think about sustainability but to live it — every single day.”

The program concluded with a collective reflection and a student-led commitment to contribute towards building cleaner, greener, and more sustainable school environments.

With initiatives like Campus Climate Vartaleap, Green Pencil Foundation continues to strengthen its mission of empowering youth as active climate citizens — nurturing a generation that leads with awareness, empathy, and action.
