Faridabad, September 20, 2025 — Continuing its mission to promote youth-led climate action, the Green Pencil Foundation successfully organised the Campus Climate Vartaleap at Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 7, Faridabad on 20th September 2025. The initiative was conducted with the support of Commutiny the youth collective and Vartaleap and is part of the Foundation’s ongoing effort to nurture climate-conscious leaders among students.
The event was led by Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of the Green Pencil Foundation, as part of his Changeloom Youth Leaders in Climate Actions journey. The Campus Climate Vartaleap is designed to translate environmental awareness into practical action, motivating students to engage actively in sustainable practices on campus and in their communities.

A total of 100 students actively participated in the event, engaging in an open dialogue with teachers and the school principal to discuss pressing local environmental challenges. Key topics included air pollution, water conservation, waste management, and sustainable campus practices, with participants sharing ideas and exploring ways to implement eco-friendly initiatives within the school environment.
Faridabad’s Environmental Context
Air Quality: Faridabad is among the most polluted cities in Haryana, with frequent spikes in PM2.5 and PM10 levels, underscoring the need for awareness and action at the community level.
Water Scarcity: With the city facing water stress, initiatives like rainwater harvesting and water-use efficiency in schools are crucial.
Waste Management: The city generates around 900 tonnes of solid waste daily, yet only a small fraction is processed, highlighting the importance of student-led waste segregation and reduction practices.

Impact and Way Forward
The Green Pencil Foundation plans to continue this initiative across 12 schools and colleges in Faridabad, aiming to empower young leaders to act on climate challenges. Mr. Khanda emphasized that engaging students in these discussions is vital for building responsible, informed, and proactive youth leaders who can drive sustainable change in their communities.

Through the Campus Climate Vartaleap at Sector 7, the Foundation reinforced its commitment to climate education, youth empowerment, and practical environmental action, creating tangible impact and encouraging students to take ownership of their role in shaping a sustainable future.
