The Green Pencil Foundation, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, organised a sensitisation programme on Intergenerational Bonding at Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 7, Faridabad.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Himanshi Mehra, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Mr. Divyansh Gandhi, and Mr. Aakash Mahato, who guided students through discussions and activities that highlighted the importance of empathy, compassion, and respect between generations. The programme encouraged students to view intergenerational relationships not just as family ties, but as pillars of cultural continuity and social harmony.

Adding strength to the initiative, Mr. Manish Bhargava mentored the felicitation team, ensuring smooth coordination of the event and inspiring young volunteers with lessons in leadership and community engagement. His guidance helped students understand how teamwork and service can play a vital role in shaping inclusive communities.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students sharing reflections on their relationships with grandparents and older family members. Many highlighted how communication and mutual respect can bridge the generational gap in today’s fast-changing world.
This programme forms part of a 15-session series being conducted by the Green Pencil Foundation in partnership with NISD across 10 government schools in Faridabad, Gurugram, Jind, and Karnal districts of Haryana. The initiative seeks to nurture empathy and social responsibility among students while promoting intergenerational solidarity as an essential foundation for inclusive growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of the Green Pencil Foundation, remarked, “Every session demonstrates that young people are ready to embrace compassion and responsibility when given the right perspective. By bridging generations, we are building not only stronger families but also stronger communities.”
Through such initiatives, the Green Pencil Foundation continues to advance its mission of youth empowerment, social awareness, and sustainable community engagement, in line with India’s broader vision of inclusive development and social justice.
