On 23rd December, an important conversation around menstruation took place at Amity International School during “Period Party,” an awareness initiative organised by Jagran New Media. The session aimed to create a safe space for students to learn, ask questions, and understand menstruation beyond myths and taboos.
Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of Green Pencil Foundation, joined the programme as a Guest Speaker and interacted with around 200 students. During his session, he spoke openly about menstrual hygiene management, the social taboos attached to periods, and how lack of awareness and access can impact health and confidence, especially among young girls.

Keeping the discussion simple and relatable, Mr. Khanda explained that menstruation is a natural and healthy process, yet it is often surrounded by silence and misinformation. He highlighted the importance of using safe menstrual products, maintaining hygiene, and seeking correct information instead of believing in myths passed through generations. The session also encouraged students both girls and boys to be supportive, empathetic, and informed.

To strengthen the learning with action, Menstrual Hygiene Management Kits were distributed to students during the session. This small but meaningful step was taken to ensure that students not only gain knowledge but also have access to essential menstrual care products.
Mr. Aakash Mahato, National Operations Head of Green Pencil Foundation, was also present during the programme and supported the smooth conduct of the session.
The event reflected Green Pencil Foundation’s continued commitment to promoting menstrual health, dignity, and public health awareness through school-based interventions. By engaging young minds early, such initiatives help in building a future where conversations around periods are normal, informed, and free from stigma.
Green Pencil Foundation sincerely thanks Jagran New Media and Amity International School for their support and collaboration in making this session impactful and meaningful.
