The Green Pencil Foundation, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, organized an impactful one-day programme on Intergenerational Bonding at Government Senior Secondary School, Islampur, Gurugram on 8th October 2025.
This initiative is part of a long-term collaboration between the Green Pencil Foundation and NISD to conduct 15 Intergenerational Bonding Programmes across Faridabad, Gurugram, Jind, and Karnal, aimed at building bridges between generations and strengthening social harmony through shared learning and empathy.
The session at Islampur focused on promoting understanding, communication, and emotional connection between the young and the elderly. More than 100 students actively participated in discussions, storytelling sessions, and activities that emphasized the importance of respecting elders, learning from their experiences, and valuing traditional wisdom in a rapidly changing world.

The event was led by Mr. Aakash Mahato, Ms. Neha, and Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder and Director of the Green Pencil Foundation, who guided the students through meaningful interactions and reflective exercises.
School Principal, Mr. Lakhpat Singh, appreciated the Foundation’s consistent efforts to nurture strong moral and social values among the youth. He expressed that such programmes help students build empathy and understand the significance of intergenerational relationships in fostering cohesive communities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sandy Khanda said:
“Intergenerational bonding strengthens the emotional fabric of society. When we encourage young people to connect with elders, we cultivate gratitude, wisdom, and respect — the true foundation of a compassionate nation.”
Through these ongoing programmes, the Green Pencil Foundation continues to uphold its commitment to promoting social well-being and intergenerational understanding, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
