The Green Pencil Foundation, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, organised a one-day Sensitisation Programme on Intergenerational Bonding at Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 7, Faridabad.
The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 100 students, who actively engaged in discussions and interactive activities focused on empathy, understanding, and respect between different generations. The session aimed to encourage young people to value the emotional and moral wisdom of elders while fostering a sense of compassion and care within families and communities.

The session was facilitated by members of the Green Pencil Foundation, who highlighted the importance of bridging generational divides in today’s technology-driven and fast-changing social environment. Through real-life examples and open dialogue, students explored how mutual respect and intergenerational learning can contribute to building a more inclusive and empathetic society.

Ms. Seema Gautam, Principal of the school, appreciated the initiative and remarked that such programmes are essential in today’s times to help students connect with traditional values and understand the importance of family bonds. She thanked the Green Pencil Foundation and NISD for bringing this valuable awareness session to her school.
This sensitisation drive is part of a 15-programme collaboration between the Green Pencil Foundation and NISD, being implemented across 10 government schools in Faridabad, Gurugram, Jind, and Karnal districts of Haryana. The initiative aims to strengthen the emotional and social fabric of society by promoting intergenerational bonding and spreading awareness about the role of youth in elder care and social harmony.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of the Green Pencil Foundation, said, “Intergenerational understanding is the heart of a compassionate society. When students learn to appreciate and respect their elders, they not only carry forward moral values but also become more empathetic citizens.”

Through such collaborative efforts, the Green Pencil Foundation continues to advance its mission of youth empowerment, social awareness, and sustainable community development, in partnership with national institutions dedicated to inclusive growth and human welfare.
