Green Pencil Foundation and NISD Continue Intergenerational Bonding Awareness with Another Session at Chhainsa Government School

Faridabad, September 19, 2025 — Strengthening its ongoing partnership with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the Green Pencil Foundation conducted another sensitisation session on Intergenerational Bonding at Government Senior Secondary School, Village Chhainsa, Ballabgarh.

Following the positive response to the earlier programme, this second-day session aimed to deepen students’ understanding of empathy, respect, and emotional connection between different generations. The event engaged over 75 students through interactive discussions, storytelling, and real-life examples encouraging them to cherish family relationships and value the wisdom of elders.

The session was led by Ms. Himanshi Mehra, Mr. Sandy Khanda, and Mr. Aakash Mahato, who guided participants through activities highlighting how modern youth can bridge the generation gap through communication, care, and community participation. Students shared reflections on how their interactions with grandparents and older relatives shape their values and emotional well-being.

This programme is part of a 15-session series being jointly organised by Green Pencil Foundation and NISD across 10 government schools in Faridabad, Gurugram, Jind, and Karnal districts of Haryana. The initiative aims to promote intergenerational solidarity and encourage youth to contribute to a socially inclusive society rooted in compassion and mutual respect.

Speaking about the continued collaboration, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of the Green Pencil Foundation, remarked, “Each session reinforces how deeply young people value family bonds when given the right perspective. These dialogues help nurture empathy and responsibility among students — qualities that define a truly progressive and caring nation.”

The National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) has been at the forefront of developing awareness programmes on senior citizen welfare and intergenerational understanding across India. With India’s elderly population projected to reach over 180 million by 2030, initiatives like these play a vital role in fostering social harmony and intergenerational care.

Through this continued partnership, Green Pencil Foundation reaffirms its mission to build socially conscious youth, strengthen community values, and promote intergenerational respect as an integral part of sustainable social development.
