Green Pencil Foundation and Ingenious e-Brain Lead Tree Plantation Drive at Aravalis, Gurugram

The Green Pencil Foundation, in CSR partnership with Ingenious E Brain Private Limited, organized a Mega Tree Plantation Drive at the Aravali Range near Sohna Road, Gurugram. As part of this impactful initiative, 30 native trees—including Jamun, Banyan, and Peepal—were planted to restore green cover, support biodiversity, and counter rising air pollution levels.

The activity saw active participation from 25 volunteers, including employees of Ingenious E Brain and Green Pencil Foundation members. Among the key participants were volunteers Lakshita Sharma, Ankita Tyagi, Mihika Srikrishna, and the Foundation’s Founder, Mr. Sandy Khanda.

Why This Matters

Gurugram consistently ranks among the most polluted cities in the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution is responsible for over 7 million premature deaths globally each year. In India, urban areas like Gurugram suffer from high PM2.5 levels, exceeding safe limits by over six times.
As per the latest IQAir 2024 World Air Quality Report, Gurugram recorded an average PM2.5 level of 92 µg/m³, while the WHO’s safe limit is 5 µg/m³.

Moreover, Gurugram has seen rapid urbanization and real estate development, leading to a steep decline in green spaces and the degradation of the Aravalli forest belt — a crucial natural barrier against desertification and pollution. Tree plantation drives in this region are essential for ecological balance, groundwater recharge, and improving air quality.

Voices from the Ground

Mr. Rahul Singh , Senior Admin at Ingenious E Brain, emphasized the need for corporate action, saying,
“This is the best way to fight climate change and restore our environment. Every sapling planted is a step toward a healthier future.”

Mr. Sandy Khanda shared the Foundation’s broader mission:
“We are planting lakhs of trees and conducting thousands of workshops on sustainability, menstrual hygiene, career development, and eco-friendly lifestyles across Delhi NCR and India. Our initiatives have impacted lakhs of youth and communities.”

Green Pencil Foundation: A Movement, Not Just a Mission

Through strategic partnerships with corporates, government bodies, and civil society, the Green Pencil Foundation is leading change across cities like Gurugram, Faridabad, Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad. Their projects focus on tree plantation, environmental education, and climate resilience — ensuring a greener, cleaner, and more conscious India.
