We conducted a Sustainable Practices Workshop at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala, on March 15, 2025. The workshop, led by the foundation’s founder, Mr. Sandy Khanda, brought together 250 students from across Kerala to discuss water contamination, waste management, and reducing carbon footprints.
The session highlighted Kerala’s growing plastic pollution crisis, air quality concerns, and the urgent need for effective waste management and renewable energy solutions. Students actively engaged in discussions on adopting sustainable practices in daily life, learning about plastic segregation, eco-friendly alternatives, and responsible consumption.
Athulya, a student participant, appreciated the initiative and took the Sustainability Pledge, committing to greener habits. Another participant, Anand, shared that such workshops are essential in fostering a culture of sustainability among youth.
The Green Pencil Foundation, which has been spearheading environmental and social initiatives across India, plans to expand its reach in Kerala. Future efforts will focus on coastal conservation, waste reduction, and climate resilience, aiming to empower young individuals in building a more sustainable and eco-conscious society.
