Climate Change

“The Earth is what we all have in common”

– Wendell Berry

Our Planet is Our Responsibility

Climate change is no longer a distant threat but an urgent reality that affects every aspect of life on Earth. Extreme weather events and rising sea levels are impacts of climate change that are seen worldwide. Nations are facing the brunt of the crisis. Environment protection requires a collective effort that starts with awareness at the grassroots level.

Environmental education is the first step of sustainable practices. We want communities to be a part of the solution. If individuals make eco-friendly choices we can witness massive changes. We have to decrease carbon footprints to create a planet with a better atmosphere.

Our Vision

To create a world where every individual knows the importance of environmental stewardship. Individuals have enough power to take meaningful actions in the fight against climate change. Our youth should be environmentally conscious of their actions and adopt eco-friendly practices

Our Goals

Awareness

Youth should be aware of the negative outcomes of climate change so they move towards green activities.

Sustainable Practices

Individuals and businesses must adopt eco-friendly practices that decrease harsh outcomes.

Plantation Campaigns

Plantation campaigns that create a healthy atmosphere must be set up.

Renewable Energy

Increase the usage of renewable energy sources among households and organizations.

Why Focus on Climate Change?

Food Insecurity

Climate change affects rainfall patterns that bring floods. This can disrupt agriculture. In India, 54.6% of the population depends on farming, so it's a direct threat to food security.

High Sea Levels

India’s long coastline is vulnerable to rising sea levels that result from melting glaciers. People living near the coastal regions are at risk of losing their homes as glaciers are melting at a rate of 267 billion tons of ice per year.

Harsh Weather Events

Unpredictable weather events such as cyclones are getting more frequent than ever before. India records 3 or more cyclones every year that result in massive destruction that can even take lives.

Lower Water Resources

Glaciers are melting every year and this affects the availability of freshwater. Millions of people rely on it for daily use. 35 million Indians lack access to safe water and this worsens the poverty levels.

Health Issues

Due to a high poverty rate of 8.5%, people cannot avoid heat-related issues. In summer, there is a high incidence of heat stress and respiratory issues. Vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly are at even greater risk of morbidity.

Facts to Know

  • The average temperature has increased by around 0.7°C between 1901-2018.
  • Himalayan glaciers are retreating at an alarming rate – they have been losing ice at a rate of about 20 meters per year.
  • India witnessed a 150% increase in extreme weather events between 2000 and 2019.
  • 1.67 million deaths are reported due to air pollution every year.
  • Experts predict a 0.3-meter rise in sea level by 2050.

Our Impactful Initiatives

  • Schools Program: We visit schools across the country to educate students about climate change. Our efforts can share knowledge with thousands of students. We make them aware of renewable actions such as recycling.
  • Tree Planting: Compelling youth to plant one tree, at a time.
  • Climate Workshops: We conduct workshops in vulnerable communities to make them conscious of the climate risks. We encourage sustainable farming tactics and renewable energy methods among people.
  • Clean Energy: We educate about the use of clean energy such as promoting the use of solar panels in rural areas.
