Green Pencil Foundation Spreads Message of Love and Respect Across Generations in Popran, Karnal

The Green Pencil Foundation, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, organized a heartfelt awareness session on Intergenerational Bonding at Government Senior Secondary School, Village Popran, District Karnal.

The event brought together students, teachers, and community members for a thoughtful discussion on strengthening the relationship between the young and the elderly. The session aimed to revive the values of empathy, patience, and mutual understanding that have long defined Indian family life.

The interactive programme was facilitated by Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder and Director of Green Pencil Foundation, along with resource persons Neha, Aakash Mahato, and Divyansh Gandhi. Through engaging conversations, storytelling, and real-life examples, the team inspired students to respect and care for the older generation while also understanding their challenges in the fast-changing modern world.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Khanda shared,

“Our elders are living libraries of experience. Today’s youth must not just seek advice from them but also make time to listen, learn, and share. Intergenerational bonds are the roots that keep our families and culture strong.”

The session also highlighted issues faced by the elderly, such as loneliness, neglect, and the need for emotional support. Students shared personal stories of their grandparents, creating a warm and relatable dialogue on family connection. Teachers appreciated the Foundation’s effort in bringing such meaningful programs to rural schools, where traditional values still play a vital role in community life.

With India’s youth population crossing 350 million, and its elderly population projected to touch 194 million by 2031, initiatives like these are crucial in building a compassionate and inclusive society. The Green Pencil Foundation continues to take such sessions across Haryana and Delhi-NCR, ensuring that respect, empathy, and understanding remain at the heart of social progress.
